Showcasing an Innovation at ReDoCO2 Demo Event in Denmark

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

SkyTEM proudly participated in the ReDoCO2 project demonstration event, presenting groundbreaking technology aimed at CO2 reduction and sustainable land management. The event, held at Brahetrolleborg Slot in Southern Funen, Denmark, successfully brought together key stakeholders and industry leaders committed to environmental sustainability.

Pioneering Technology for a Sustainable Future

ReDoCO2, an initiative funded by Innovation Fund Denmark, focuses on advanced sensor technology to accurately map soil composition. This initiative aims to enhance efforts to reduce carbon emissions. SkyTEM has significantly contributed to this mission by developing state-of-the-art geophysical mapping solutions.

During the event, SkyTEM CEO Morten Melbye provided an introduction to the companyโ€™s role in the project. Nicklas Skovgaard Nyboe, Chief Geophysicist, elaborated on the companyโ€™s latest innovationโ€”the Diamond drone system. This revolutionary technology utilizes transient electromagnetic (TEM) data to generate high-resolution subsurface maps. These maps are crucial for identifying and managing carbon-rich soils. The system is revolutionary as the first fully airborne TEM system operated by drones.

The Role of Subsurface Mapping in CO2 Reduction

The accurate mapping of Denmarkโ€™s lowland soils plays a critical role in mitigating climate change. With SkyTEMโ€™s drone-mounted TEM system, the need for traditional drilling and soil sampling is significantly minimized. This makes the process faster, more efficient, and environmentally friendly. Furthermore, by pinpointing carbon-heavy areas, land management strategies can be optimized to prevent unnecessary CO2 release.

A Collaborative Effort Toward Sustainability

ReDoCO2 brings together leading research institutions, technology providers, and environmental organizations to push the boundaries of sustainable land-use planning. As a result, the projectโ€™s real-world applications demonstrate how innovation in geophysics and remote sensing can directly contribute to CO2 reduction strategies in Denmark and beyond.

SkyTEM remains fully committed to developing and implementing cutting-edge technologies that support water resource management, carbon sequestration, and sustainability. Through continued innovation and collaboration, the company is playing a vital role in shaping a greener future. Our mission is simple yet impactful. We aim to provide comprehensive insights into the earthโ€™s subsurface that aid in responsible and sustainable resource management.
