SkyTEM101

Very Near Surface to Depth in Hi Resolution

SkyTEM Surveys’ R&D people have proudly launched the latest version of SkyTEM, SkyTEM101, designed and built specifically to accurately map subtle resistivity contrasts from very near surface to depths up to 150 m. The system introduces a more aerodynamic carrier frame resulting in reduced vibrations and lower noise. Bias free data is recorded at very times earlier (10 usec) from beginning of turn off delivering the highest resolution of the near surface possible in an airborne geophysical platform.

The SkyTEM Method

  • Uniquely designed to transmit in dual moment mode producing high spatial sampling for shallow imaging and late-time data for deep imaging.
  • Significant noise reduction. Patented receiver coil eliminates the bias response. The need to subtract the signal from the noise, a time-consuming requirement for conventional systems is eliminated, delivering clean and accurate data from the near surface to depth.
  • The elimination of signal drift, high altitude calibration/ verification flights at regular intervals throughout each sortie and time-consuming post-flight corrections. The data is clean and robust and can be processed the day it is acquired. iTEM inversions are available in two days.
  • All sensors, including the magnetometer, are mounted on the rigid carrier frame and all measurements are recorded as close to the ground as is achievable from an airborne geophysical platform. Increased accuracy and high lateral and horizontal resolution are part of the deliverables.
  • Simple installation and no operator required in the helicopter reduce weight and fuel consumption. Risk is reduced as the pilot is the only one aboard.
